Richard WhitneyTekonomi's principal, Richard Whitney, says his whole career can be summed up as follows:

  1. explaining marketing to technologists,
  2. explaining technology to marketers
  3. creating interdisciplinary teams that deliver solutions for marketers.


Richard is extensively experienced in the use of information technology for marketing in financial services, telecommunications, consulting services and manufacturing. He started his career in a variety of marketing research and analysis roles at International Harvester (now Navistar), Hesston Corporation, Chase Econometrics and ITT.

In nine years at Citibank, Richard created a database marketing system that integrated customer information from over thirty different consumer businesses, capturing relationships with one out of every four households in the US.

During four years as CIO of Financial Information, Inc., Richard successfully implemented Customer Relationship Management for the firm, web-enabling products, sales, and customer support .

During seven years as DraftFCB's Senior Vice President for Marketing Database Services, Richard  provided customized interactive and database solutions, operational support, customer analysis and modeling, list processing, strategic consulting and management of online and offline direct marketing programs for clients across North America.

As Head of Information Management for Santander Cards' successful 2007 UK launch, Richard managed development of information systems and staff to meet the needs of marketing, portfolio management, risk and operational functions of the new business unit.

Richard graduated with honors from Dakota Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech and Drama. Richard earned the Project Management Institute's Project Management Professional certification in 1999, and taught project management courses as adjunct professor in the Marketing and Management Division of New York University's School of Continuing Education from 2000 to 2003. Richard has also spoken on best practices for email marketing at both national and regional conferences of the Direct Marketing Association.
